as all of you people of the nation by the name of MALAYSIA had known about the news of language switches in teaching maths n science from 2012 onwards
a lot had comment on the topic
it is a correct decision or a incorrect one?
based on the reason that was told out, it is due to the..
  • the teacher being bad in english
“Only 19.2% of secondary teachers and 9.96% of primary teachers were sufficiently proficient in English,”
  • the PPSMI (pengajaran dan pembelajaran sains dan matematik dalam bahasa ingeris) was not in the correct route as they had wished for earlier, this is due to the dual languages class held, it is meant to only teach in english
  • based on research proves, only 8% of the teacher uses english completely in class
    >.
  • our own standard had droped since PPSMI was introduced
Malaysian students in Science slipped from 20th place in 2003 to 21st in 2007. For Mathematics, our students dropped from 10th placing in 2003 to 20th in 2007.
    =.="
  • UPSR results for science and maths had also droped last year both urban and rural area although it is still good.

there is this many solid reason for the changes, so it is basicly a suitable action taken,
however, the implementation of this would bring a big, or should i say quite huge changes in the future
example:
  • it is harder later to master the fields of Science and Mathematics in the future for them, all high edu is in ENGLISH
  • is will be somehow difficult for those fresh secondary student to change from english to bm suddently, a drop of grade would most likely seen during that time
  • acchieving a proficientcy in english language is somehow important although bm is our general language since english is the world's comunication language
  • the teacher might not be as full-heartedly as today since they put in a lot of effort trying to master their english but now, it seems to be somehow a waste in effort in certain angle
  • it will be a burden to the students as a replacemenet, english sbuject such as ENGLISH "LITERATURE" will be re-introduced to strengthen english
every single action hav their own pros and cons but as an individual that should be able to thnk rasionally, we should be able to see a method for the best outcome. In my opinion, i do think so however different people have different thoughts

nevermind all those, the goverment did gave us a commitment to improve the english standard of our student, the brief report on this can be viewed via the following link:

http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/7/9/nation/20090709184801&sec=nation

i guess i do not need to elaborate more on this matter as many had voiced out their opinion
so people, do think whether decisions made is proper or vice versa to makesure conflicts can be avoided.
like a malay saying, "tepuk dada tanya selera"
do you people really agree?
is this a rash decision or a calm decision?
it still remain as a question till 2012 whether it is WISE or OTHERWISE...
